“From princesses to pirates and mermaids to dragons.” In this class, students will delve into the fantasy genre by crafting unique characters and collaboratively creating a thrilling short play through improv and storytelling.
Shakespeare A-Z
For girls in grades K-2

Students meet the man, the myth, the legend - Mr. William Shakespeare himself. Through exploring Shakespeare's poetic language, students become classical actors breathing life into texts that are hundreds of years old. Students will gain confidence performing in front of their peers and practice empathy for the timeless characters they will meet. The Residency will end with a spectacular showcase showing off all of the lifelong skills the students will learn.
Artist Studio

Ballet 2

Ballet 2 reinforces and expands the ballet experience through classical technique, creativity, and dance-making. Plain pink or black leotard with or without a skirt and pink or skin-toned ballet shoes are required.
Ballet students will perform in the dance concert on Thursday, April 4 at 6:00 pm and the school matinee on Friday, April 5.
Bee Sharp Choir

How To Be Lovely II: Advanced Etiquette

How to Be Lovely II is an advanced Etiquette and Deportment class that builds upon foundations that are well-known to students already. Emily Cantrell of Bloom Studios guides students to develop fine social skills, graciousness, and elevated style to succeed in all of life’s little moments.
Pottery
For girls in grades 2-4 and 5-12

Develop creative concepts in clay. Learn the techniques of throwing on the wheel, hand building, and combining altered forms.
Private Music Lessons
For girls and boys in grades K-12
Private lessons for 30 or 45 minutes in piano, violin, viola, or harp are offered. All skill levels. *You must have access to the instrument you are taking lessons for in order to practice outside of your lesson.
An email will go out to everyone once school starts with more information, as well as, dates and times available for lessons.

Quickstart Tennis

The Quickstart Academy will use the teaching method of Quickstart tennis, a program aimed at helping kids in kindergarten, first, and second grade, learn the game of tennis. Using a smaller court, net, racquet, and larger foam tennis balls, the Quickstart method makes the game of tennis easily accessible to younger players.
**Each student will need to bring their own tennis racquet for this class.

Hutchison Athletics offers a sports clinic program for Hutchison girls through the Center for Excellence to provide our girls with opportunities to explore athletics. The main goal of our sports clinics is to promote growth and enhance skill development. Because of our commitment to fostering growth throughout the program, girls are invited to participate regardless of skill level or experience.
Taekwondo
For girls in grades K-2

Involve yourself in martial arts to learn discipline and skills that will help you in school and beyond. In the final class, students will test for stripes and belts. No uniform is required; however, you may wear your own uniform or purchase one through Midtown Taekwondo.
Time to Tinker and Code
For girls in grades 1-4 date/time: Thursdays, September 14-November 30 (no class October 5. November 23); 3:15-4:00 pm instructors: Lucy Wesson (lower school science) & Jennifer Stover (lower school technology integrationist) cost: $225
Spend time with Mrs. Stover and Ms. Wesson expanding your computer science skills. Girls will gain more experience coding with unplugged and plugged activities. The activities will promote an understanding of important universal coding concepts that can be applied to different applications. This class will allow girls to tinker with Tinkercad developing 3-D print designs and programming skills will be taught through Code.org. Girls can 3-D print bag tags, game pieces, and more. Join the fun of computer science!
