Conservatory Information
Designed for serious singers, who might be considering pursuing voice in college, Summer Conservatory allows students to hone their craft under the tutelage of talented instructors. Conservatory students are assigned at least two roles in various opera, operetta, and musical theatre scenes as well as large group opera chorus pieces. Participants rehearse the scenes in an atmosphere similar to an opera workshop, giving them a taste of the college level workshop process. They receive vocal coaching from a talented staff of voice instructors. Special workshops include acting, training the voice, pursuing a career in opera, music history, diction, dance and stage movement, stage combat, stage makeup, and stage lighting. The session concludes with a fully staged performance of scenes on the evening of the final day of the Conservatory Session.
