Bee Notes Choir
For girls in grades K-1
Dates/Time: Thursdays, January 9-March 27 (no classes 3/13) from 3:15-4:00 pm
Instructor: Heather Short (EC and LS music teacher)
Cost: $250
Learn vocal techniques for performances. This class gives students a strong foundation for the proper use of their vocal talent and the basics of choral singing. Choirs will sing at a Memphis Redbirds Game closer to the end of the spring semester. Space is limited.
*Bee Notes will perform at the Hutchison Music Concert on April 3 at 6:00 pm. Rehearsal will be on April 2 and the time will be announced closer to the rehearsal date.

Bee-Jeweled By Me
for girls in grades K-2

Instructor: Miss. Emily (Bloom Studios)
Cost: $300
Create one of kind works of art in this special jewelry design class with Bloom Studios. Explore famous eras such as Belle Epoque, Art Deco, and beyond with crystals, pearls, and up-cycled vintage collections at your fingertips. Classes conclude with an exhibition of your very own Jewelry line!

Book Character Club
for girls in grades K-2
Date/Time: Mondays, January 6-March 31 (no classes on 1/20, 2/17, 3/10) from 3:15-4:15 PM
Instructors: Alex Bunkley and Shannon Manzi

Each week students will explore a new book character like Ada Twist Scientist, Pinkalicious, Molly Lou Melon, and characters from Jory John books. We'll enjoy some popular stories and explore new characters that may become a new favorite! Together we will read our book of the week, discuss what the character has to teach us, and participate in a hands-on activity to go along with each one!

Cheerleading
For girls in grades 1-4

Hutchison Lower School cheerleading combines elements of dance, gymnastics, and stunts. Coaches focus on teamwork, coordination, and spirit, helping build confidence and develop athletic skills.

Colorful Creations: An Art Adventure
For girls in grades K-1

In this art class, young creative minds embark on an exciting journey of self-expression and exploration through various art mediums. Students engage in hands-on activities that include painting, drawing, collage-making, and sculpting, utilizing different materials like crayons, watercolors, Model Magic, and recycled items. The class encourages students to express their imagination while developing fine motor skills, color recognition, and teamwork. With a focus on fun and discovery, each class is designed to inspire creativity and instill a love for arts in a nurturing environment.

Perfect for young witches and wizards, this immersive experience invites students to unleash their creativity by building iconic LEGO sets inspired by the beloved series. From the majestic Hogwarts Castle to the bustling Diagon Alley, participants will construct their
favorite locations while diving deep into the magic of storytelling. But the magic doesn’t stop at building!
Participants will collaborate on group projects, engage in friendly challenges, and even create their own unique LEGO scenes inspired by their favorite moments from the series. Grab your wand—your adventure awaits!

Fairy Garden Tales Theater Class
For girls in grades K-1
Dates/Time: Tuesdays, January 7-March 25 (no class on 3/11) from 3:15-4:00 PM

Students will use their imaginations to create fairy-tale adventures. Through storytelling, movement, and play, students will bring enchanted stories to life while learning theater basics in a fun, nurturing environment.

Mahjong
For girls in grades 1-4

Join us for an exciting Mahjong class where players of all skill levels can immerse themselves in the intricate world of this classic Chinese game! Throughout the class, participants will learn the rules, strategies, and nuances of Mahjong through hands-on play, crafts, and friendly competitions.

Private Music Lessons
For girls and boys in grades K-12
Private lessons for 30 or 45 minutes in piano, violin, viola, voice, or harp are offered—all skill levels. Students who took lessons in the fall have priority for the spring semester. If you are interested in your child starting lessons please contact afterschool@hutchisonschool.org to learn of the open lesson spots.
*You must have access to the instrument you are taking lessons for to practice outside of your lesson.

Quickstart Tennis
For girls in K-2
Dates/Time: Wednesdays, 2:30-3:15 pm

The Quickstart Academy will use the teaching method of Quickstart tennis, a program aimed at helping kids in kindergarten, first, and second grade, learn the game of tennis. Using a smaller court, net, racquet, and larger foam tennis balls, the Quickstart method makes the game of tennis easily accessible to younger players.
**Each student will need to bring their own tennis racquet for this class.

SEW Fancy II
For girls in 1-3 grades who took SEW Fancy in the fall semester

An introductory sewing course taught by Miss Emily Cantrell of Bloom Studios. This is the next step in the SEW Fancy curriculum and will continue to cover the basic mechanics of operating a sewing machine, embroidery, using patterns, and hand stitching.

Hutchison Athletics offers a sports clinic program for Hutchison girls through the Center for Excellence to provide our girls with opportunities to explore athletics. The main goal of our sports clinics is to promote growth and enhance skill development. Because of our commitment to fostering growth throughout the program, girls are invited to participate regardless of skill level or experience.

Taekwondo
For girls in grades K-1

Involve yourself in martial arts to learn discipline and skills that will help you in school and beyond. In the final class, students will test for stripes and belts. No uniform is required; however, you may wear your own uniform or purchase one through Midtown Taekwondo.

Time to Tinker and Code
For girls in grades 1-4
Dates/Time: Thursdays, January 9-March 27 (no classes 3/13) from 3:15-4:00 pm
Instructors: Lucy Wesson (lower school science) & Jennifer Stover (lower school technology integrationist)
Cost: $250
Spend time with Mrs. Stover and Ms. Wesson expanding your computer science skills. Girls will gain more experience coding with unplugged and plugged activities. The activities will promote an understanding of important universal coding concepts that can be applied to different applications. This class will allow girls to tinker with Tinkercad developing 3-D print designs and programming skills will be taught through Code.org. Girls can 3-D print bag tags, game pieces, and more. Join the fun of computer science!
