  • Ballet 1

    For girls in 1st grade
    school-year length course
    Dates/Time: Mondays, September 9-November 18 (no class 10/ 7), and January 6-March 31 (no class on 1/20, 2/17, 3/10); 3:00-4:00 PM
    Instructor: Louisa Koeppel (Hutchison dance teacher)
    Cost: $500
    Ballet 1 will reinforce and expand the ballet experience through classical technique, creativity, and dance-making. Plain pink or black leotard with or without a skirt and pink or skin-toned ballet shoes are required.
    Ballet students will perform in the Dance Concert on Tuesday, April 1 at 6:00 pm and the school matinee on Wednesday, April 2. Rehearsals will tentatively be on Friday 3/28, and Monday 3/31.

  • Bee Notes Choir

    For girls in grades K-1
    Dates/Time: Thursdays, September 5-November 21 (no class 10/10 or 10/31); 3:15-4:00 pm
    Instructor: Heather Short (EC and LS music teacher)  
    Cost: $225
    Learn vocal techniques for performances. This class gives students a strong foundation for the proper use of their vocal talent and the basics of choral singing. Space is limited.

    *Bee Notes will perform at the Hutchison music concert on December 5 at 6:00 pm. Rehearsal times will be announced closer to the concert date. 
  • Cheerleading

    For girls in grades 1-4
    Date/Time: Wednesdays, September 4-November 13 (no class 9/25 or 10/9) from 2:15-3:15 PM
    Coach: Morgan Lincoln (DC Dragons Cheer Coach)
    Cost: $255, includes Cheer T-Shirt
    Hutchison Lower School cheerleading combines elements of dance, gymnastics, and stunts. Coaches focus on teamwork, coordination, and spirit, helping build confidence and develop athletic skills.
  • Colorful Creations: An Art Adventure

    For girls in grades K-1
    Dates/Time: Wednesdays, September 4-November 13 (no class October 9) from 2:15-3:15 PM
    Instructor: Martha Berge (lower school art teacher)
    Cost: $250
    In this art class, young creative minds embark on an exciting journey of self-expression and exploration through various art mediums. Students engage in hands-on activities that include painting, drawing, collage-making, and sculpting, utilizing different materials like crayons, watercolors, Model Magic, and recycled items. The class encourages students to express their imagination while developing fine motor skills, color recognition, and teamwork. With a focus on fun and discovery, each class is designed to inspire creativity and instill a love for arts in a nurturing environment.
  • Design, Build, Move LEGO

    For girls in grades 1-4
    Date/Time: Mondays, September 9-October 29 (no class 10/ 7) (8 Sessions) from 3:15-4:15 PM
    Instructor: Itch 2 Learn
    Cost: $245
    This unique class uses LEGO building elements to engage students in the exploration of physical science. This class will help foster an
    understanding of forces, motion, and interactions by providing easy hands-on learning experiences without the need for technology.
  • How To Be Lovely II: Advanced Etiquette

    For girls in K-2 
    Dates/Time: Mondays, September 9-November 18 (no class 10/ 7); 3:30-4:30 PM 
    Instructor: Emily Cantrell (Bloom Studios)

    A definitive guide to living gracefully. Young ladies will refine skills in polite conversation and conflict resolution, healthy home-keeping habits, and elegant posture and movement in tricky clothing, just to name a few. 
  • Mahjong

    For girls in grades 1-4
    Date/Time: Thursdays, September 5-November 21 (no class 10/10 or 10/31) from 3:15-4:15 PM
    Instructor: Hope Covington
    Cost: $250
    Join us for an exciting Mahjong class where players of all skill levels can immerse themselves in the intricate world of this classic Chinese game! Throughout the class, participants will learn the rules, strategies, and nuances of Mahjong through hands-on play, crafts, and friendly competitions.
  • Nutcracker Ballet Workshop

    For girls in grades K-4
    Date/Time: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, December 2, 3, 5, 9, 10, and 12 from 3:15-4:45 PM
    Performance: Thursday, December 12 at 3:45 PM 
    Instructor: Katy Stanfield (dancer and dance instructor)

  • Private Music Lessons

    For girls and boys in grades K-12
    Private lessons for 30 or 45 minutes in piano, violin, viola, voice, or harp are offered—all skill levels.
    *You must have access to the instrument you are taking lessons for to practice outside of your lesson. 
    Students who took lessons last spring have priority for the fall semester.
    Space is limited.
  • Quickstart Tennis

    For girls in K-2
    Dates/Time: Wednesdays, 2:30-3:15 pm
    Instructor: Jay Horne (tennis coach)
    Cost: $180 per session
    FALL I >> September 4-October 16 (no class on 10/9)
    FALL II >> October 23-December 4 (no class on 11/27)
    The Quickstart Academy will use the teaching method of Quickstart tennis, a program aimed at helping kids in kindergarten, first, and second grade, learn the game of tennis. Using a smaller court, net, racquet, and larger foam tennis balls, the Quickstart method makes the game of tennis easily accessible to younger players.

    **Each student will need to bring their own tennis racquet for this class.
  • Ready, Set, Create! Holiday Edition

    For girls in grades K-2
    Dates/Time: Tuesdays, September 3-November 12 (no class 10/8); 3:15-4:15 pm
    Instructor: Heather Fontana (kindergarten teacher)
    Cost: $250
    Explore your imagination and learn tools to focus creativity with the creative process in this fun, holiday-themed project-based class.
     
  • SEW Fancy

    For girls in 1-3 grades
    Date/Time: Thursdays, September 5-November 21 (no class 10/10 or 10/31) from 3:15-4:15 PM
    Instructor: Miss. Emily (Bloom Studios)
    Cost: $300
    An introductory sewing course taught by Miss Emily Cantrell of Bloom Studios will cover the basic mechanics of operating a sewing machine, embroidery, how to follow a pattern, and hand stitching.
  • Sports Clinics

    Lacrosse
    Grades 3-4
    **You must purchase a lacrosse stick, eye mask, and mouth guard for this clinic.
    Dates/Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-4:15 pm
    December 3, 5, 10, and 12

    Hutchison Athletics offers a sports clinic program for Hutchison girls through the Center for Excellence to provide our girls with opportunities to explore athletics. The main goal of our sports clinics is to promote growth and enhance skill development. Because of our commitment to fostering growth throughout the program, girls are invited to participate regardless of skill level or experience.
  • Time to Tinker and Code

    For girls in grades 1-4
    Dates/Time: Thursdays, September 5-November 21 (no class 10/10 or 10/31); 3:15-4:00 pm
    Instructors: Lucy Wesson (lower school science) & Jennifer Stover (lower school technology integrationist)
    Cost: $225
    Spend time with Mrs. Stover and Ms. Wesson expanding your computer science skills. Girls will gain more experience coding with unplugged and plugged activities. The activities will promote an understanding of important universal coding concepts that can be applied to different applications. This class will allow girls to tinker with Tinkercad developing 3-D print designs and programming skills will be taught through Code.org. Girls can 3-D print bag tags, game pieces, and more. Join the fun of computer science!


  • Wonderful World Of Aesop Theater

    For girls in grades K-1
    Dates/Time: Tuesdays, September 3 - November 12 (no class 10/8); 3:15-4:00 PM
    Instructor: Julia Hinson (theater instructor)
    Cost: $250
    Dive into the enchanting tales of Aesop in this dynamic class! Students will perform plays based on timeless fables while learning character work, acting, and performance skills. Join us to bring these classic stories to life and discover the magic of the stage!
